"Freisemester" is my first EP and at the same time my first release as "Kaysn" ever. It was released 2017 at Stresslos Records in Hamburg.

After producing hip hop beats with the Hamburg group "69 Sounds" for a while, I eventually started making electronic music on my own. I took over the work with samples and the type of beats from hip hop. I slowed down the tempo and played longer chord rows, provided with spherical synth voices.

The main influences on the whole thing were Herbie Hancock, Lemongrass, Thievery Corporation, Zero 7, Sean Lennon and Kruder & Dorfmeister.

First Kaysn should be a Nujazz project. The result was clearly chillout music. Whatever music project I started on my computer ended up in this genre, albeit with certain peculiarities. I had never set out to make music like this before, it just came out of me.

But I can name one goal: to create a dreamlike mood from the beginning of a song.

At some point we gave up the hip hop project 69 Sounds, which emerged from the reggae/funk/jazz band “P-Juice”. In its place came the mixing/mastering and recording project "Islelaidback Sound", consisting of Plön (DJ Plattitude) and Christian (CNQ). Right from the start, Islelaidback was responsible for the mixing and mastering of all Kaysn tracks and assisted him in all matters relating to music production.
